PARSONSBURG - Doris Downs Taylor, 86, of Parsonsburg, died Jan. 21, 2015. Born on Jan. 23, 1928, in Willards to Guthrie and Laura Downs, she wed her husband of 53 years, J. Edward Taylor in 1949. She was very active in the Parsonsburg community at Jerusalem United Methodist Church and the fire department ladies auxiliary. She retired in 1989 as Director of Nursing of the Surgical Suite at Peninsula Regional Medical Center following a 42-year career. She then became an active volunteer at the hospital and MAC Agency. Preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Virginia Dennis, she is survived by two daughters; Valerie Wagner of Pittsville and Mindy West of Powellville; four grandchildren; and several great nephews and nieces. A funeral service was held at Holloway Funeral Home on Wednesday.
