Donald C. Wheatley
CAMBRIDGE - Donald C. Wheatley, 78, died Wednesday, Jan.17, 2007 at Dorchester General Hospital, Cambridge.
Born on June 25, 1928,in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Harley Wheatley and Grace Wheelington Wheatley. He was raised in Cambridge and attended schools in Cambridge.
Mr. Wheatley was a U.S. Army veteran,having served from 1955 to 1957 and was honorably discharged with the rank of specialist third class.
For most of his working life, he worked for Cambridge Wire Cloth for 46 years and retired in 1991.
In his youth, he enjoyed fishing and crabbing but his passion was bowling. He was a wonderful family man and was a very proud grandfather.
On Oct. 6, 1979, he married the former Peggy Lee Tall.
Surviving is his wife, Peggy Lee Tall Wheatley of Cambridge, a son, Thomas O. Lantz III and his wife, Carol of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Sgt. Thomas O. Lantz IV, USMC of Pittsburgh and Christy S. Lantz of Cambridge; a sister, Helen W. Parker of Cambridge; a sister-in-law, Ernestine Wheatley of Cambridge; brothers-in-law Elbert Tall of Arizona and Harold Tall of Hyattsville; nieces and nephews Leah DeAngioletti, Jeffrey Parker, Mark Wheatley, Bobby Wheatley, Stephen Wheatley, Barbara Tall, Ricky Tall; and a special niece, Joyce Newcomb.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was his brother, Bobby Wheatley, a brother-in-law, Orion Parker, two sisters-in-law, Louise Tall and Martha Tall.
Funeral services will held today at Noon at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Charles Greene. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park with Military Honors.
Pallbearers will be Tom Lantz, Sgt. Thomas Lantz USMC, Jimmy Newcomb, Phillip Willey, Scott Jones and Marvin Greene.
Memorial offerings may be made in Mr. Wheatley"s memory to one"s favorite charity.
