Community Band to perform at bandstand Sunday

Posted

Celebrating its 80th year as a concert band providing music in Salisbury City Park’s iconic bandstand, the Salisbury Community Band announces the first concert of the 2017 series.

This Sunday, July 2, the band will once again fill the bandstand with musicians as they kick off their Independence Day program featuring American patriotism as heard through the compositions of many of our respected composers.

The program begins at 7 p.m.

Director Howard Snow will lead the Eastern Shore musicians initially with our National Anthem and quickly follow with America the Beautiful, The Invincible Spirit, Lest We Forget, and John Phillip Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever mingled with other selections pertinent to our musical history and music of today.

Through the many years that music has emanated from the bandstand, it has always been the band’s goal to have the audience leave the concerts in a toe-tapping mood and with a song in their heart.

The concerts continue every Sunday evening through the month of July, and as always, in the event of inclement weather or a weather threat, the concerts will move to Christ United Methodist Church located on Phillip Morris Drive.
