PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Clarence Cleophus McNair, 52, formerly of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007 at Jeanes Hospital in Philadelphia.

He was born Feb. 25, 1954 in Cambridge, son of Kathleen Washington and Clarence Rideout.

Mr. McNair was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. He served in the United States Air Force. After he was honorably discharged, he worked for almost 20 years with the Southeastern Public Transportation Authority (SEPTA) in Philadelphia, Pa. He was also skilled in electronics and welding

He is survived by his wife, Virginia D. McNair of Philadelphia; three children, Clarence A. McNair of Missouri, Tia S. McNair and Lillian C. McNair, both of Cambridge and a stepson, Dion L. Edmonds of Cambridge; brothers, Walter McNair and Ray Washington, both of Cambridge and Gary McNair of California; sisters, Lori Ann, Patricia and Carletta Washington, all of Cambridge, Debra Washington of Wilmington, Del., Francine Boyd and April Taylor, both of Baltimore; a brother in-law, Kara Edmonds (Gene); sisters-in-law, Gladys Edmonds, Brenda McNair and Tammy Washington; grandchildren, Jasmine, Chloe and Kaleb McNair, all of Missouri, Saj"Heed McNair and Diontaye Edmonds, both of Cambridge and Tamyra Edmonds of Chestertown; goddaughter, Shantel Edmonds of Cambridge and a number of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Rideout.

Services will be held at noon on Friday at Refuge Temple Church of God in Cambridge with Overseer Francis Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in the Eastern Shore Veterans" Cemetery at Beulah. There will be a viewing held one hour prior to the services.

Arrangements are being handled by the Henry Funeral Home, PA, in Cambridge.
