CAMBRIDGE - Clara C. Hurley, 85, of Cambridge, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Mallard Bay Care Center. She was born in Bishops Head on Aug. 2, 1926, and was a daughter of the late Merritt S. and Nancy Lewis Moore. Mrs. Hurley attended schools in Bishops Head and Crapo. On July 3, 1964, she married John R. Hurley. He passed away on Aug. 26, 2011. In 1959, she graduated from the Eastern Shore State Hospital and received her LPN. She had worked for Dr. McCarter and retired in 2002. She was a member of the Cambridge Yacht Club. Mrs. Hurley is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Hurley; two brothers and two sisters, James Moore, Elijah Moore, Ella Bramble and Hazel Morris. A graveside service will be today, Dec. 2, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Dorchester Memorial Park with Rev. Randall T. Blackmon officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dorchester County Humane Society, P.O. Box 132, Cambridge, MD 21613. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
