Charles Harry Wilkins

WILLARDS - Charles Harry Wilkins died Dec. 15, 2017, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. He was born at home and delivered by a neighbor, Dr. Frank Lewis. He was the son of the late Harry James and Lillian Johnson Wilkins.
He attended Willards Elementary School and Wicomico Senior High School, Class of 1963. After his return from service in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, he married his classmate and high school sweetheart, Janet White Wilkins, in 1968.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Wilkins Elrick; two granddaughters; a brother, James Wilkins of Willards; and sisters, Elaine Perdue of Willards and Sharon Brosenne of Euliss, Texas.
His memberships include Salisbury Gun Club, Assateague Mobile Sportsman's Association, life membership in the National Rifle Association, a life member of VFW No. 2996 in Powellville and the Bridgeville Gun Club.
He worked at Wayne Pump and was a mechanic all his life. He worked with the State Highway Administration for 15 years, and retired from the Maryland State Police Barrack E in Salisbury after 20 years.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, at the Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Willards with military honors.
