SALISBURY - Pastor Charles Dalon Purnell died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at his residence. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of Portia A. Williams and the late James H. Brown and Charles H. "Pudgie" Purnell. He served in ministry with The Followers of Christ in Salisbury. He was the former Pastor of Faith Deliverance United Way of the Cross and a former member of Williams A.M.E. Church in Newark. He served in the U.S. Army. A "jack of all trades," he worked at Delmarva Power and was a taxi driver at the airport. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ivanne C. Purnell; a daughter, Shania C. Purnell; eight brothers, Troy A. McGlotten Sr., James H. Brown Jr., Tyra Brown, E. Stacey Brown, Shariff O. Brown, Brandon Fisher, Shawn Fisher and Minister Shawn Magee Sr.; four sisters, Amy Brown, Valarie Corbin, Genene McGlotten, and Lisa Beckett; and a host of other uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Salisbury. Interment will be held at a later date at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock. Arrangements are in the care of Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home in Salisbury.
