Bruce Gutzmer

LINKWOOD - Bruce "Gus" Gutzmer died Monday, Apr. 10, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his family. Born Oct. 18, 1939, in Merrill, Wis., he was the son of the late Harold Gutzmer and Cecelia Berghold Gutzmer.
He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1958, served two tours of duty in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged in 1972 as a Sergeant. In 1967, he married Jean. They moved to Salisbury where he worked on clam boats, the Nantucket and the Absecon for American Sea Clam Company. Later they moved to Dorchester County where he worked in the seafood industry and retired after twenty five years at Lindy's Seafood.
He was a member of American Legion Post 91 in Cambridge for forty years where he loved playing pinochle on Sunday afternoons. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Gutzmer; a daughter, Kimberly Bennett and husband, Craig, of Cambridge; a granddaughter, Casey Bennett, of Cambridge; two step grandsons, Corey Bennett and Craig Bennett, Jr.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Apr. 15, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Rev. Delmer Willey will officiate. The family suggests those attending to dress casually.
