CAMBRIDGE - Bruce Allan Steele, age 68, of Cambridge, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2011, at Mallard Bay Care Center with his family at his side, after a long and brave battle with cancer. Born Aug. 19, 1942, in Takoma Park, Md., to John Winton Steele and his wife Mary Aileen Wilkins. Bruce was the former Treasurer of the Dorchester County Historical Society and served as the Junior Warden and Finance Committee Chairman of the Vestry of Christ Episcopal Church, Cambridge. He was a former member of The Choral Arts Society, Washington DC and a State level soccer referee for many years in the DC metropolitan area. Loving husband of Carole Edmonston Steele and father of Thomas Winton (Pam) of Gaithersburg, Md., Brian Clagett (Laura) of Nantucket, Mass., and Damon Patrick (Erica) of Clarksburg, Md. He was the proud grandfather of Megan, Aiden, Colin and Kyle Steele. Bruce is also survived by his sister, Margaret; and brothers, John W., Ronald W., and J. Gregory Steele. A memorial service was 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 10, at Christ Episcopal Church, Cambridg, with inurnment following in the adjoining church graveyard.
