How do dog lovers spend an afternoon when they’re determined to raise money for the local Humane Society? They go bowling.
That’s what they did this week, at a 15,000-pin challenge with local celebrities, as Stayton Hastings called them.
Hastings, a dog lover and field sales manager for Breakthru Beverage Group based in Baltimore, a division of Tito’s Handmade Vodka, planned the challenge at Southbound Alley.
Formerly Cherokee Lanes, it’s owned by Chris Vansant and Danielle Murray
More than $1,000 was raised by bowlers representing Market Street Inn, Roadie Joe’s, Specific Gravity, Adams Ribs, Mojo’s, The Brick Room and Pohanka of Salisbury.
Twenty cents was donated for every pin knocked down and the bowling alley donated 25 percent of proceeds to the Wicomico County Humane Society. The money will help care for more than 300 dogs rescued several weeks ago and pay other expenses.
“This is a collaboration between Tito’s Handmade Vodka and Southbound Alley,” Hastings said on Monday, during the event.
“We’ll stay here until we get all the pins, even if takes all night.”
