Bonnie Adams Vass, 69
CRISFIELD - Bonnie Adams Vass passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional.
Born in Crisfield on October 1, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland "Bucky" Adams, Jr. and Zella Virginia Blueford Adams.
A graduate of Crisfield High School class of 1970, she was a retired administrative assistant for Somerset County Public Schools. Known as the "school mom," it brightened the kids' day to see Bonnie in the office. She loved the children she had worked with over the years and had a special place in her heart for all types of children and families.
Bonnie was an avid fan of local youth sports and was a long-time Crisfield Crabbers fan. She also enjoyed the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles. She enjoyed collecting memorabilia of local history, saving yearbooks and newspaper clippings of many local kids and sports, and enjoyed sharing her findings to her friends on Facebook up until a year ago when she suffered a stroke. She was also a lover of music and had an extensive vinyl record collection. A wealth of information, she had a wonderful memory remembering many special dates, phone numbers, marriages, and births at the drop of a hat. She loved to cook all different types of foods and even won the National Hard Crab Derby Crab Cooking Contest in the late 1970's. In addition, she grew up attending the First Baptist Church of Crisfield.
She is survived by her husband of 13 years, David Lawrence Vass of Crisfield; her son, Amrit Rayfield and wife Kelly of Elkins, W.Va.; granddaughter, Gabryelle Rayfield of Morgantown, W.Va.; step-daughter, Rochelle Washington of Crofton, Md.; step-grandchildren, CJ Washington and Sydney Washington; special family, Doug and Gail Rayfield of Allen, Md.; special "grandchildren", Tanner Miller and Emma Miller, both of Elkins, W.Va.; and the entire Vass Family who were very special to her.
Along with her parents; she was preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Adams; her infant sister, Leilanie Adams; grandparents, Carl Blueford, Sr. and Beulah Blueford, Grover Adams, Sr. and Marie Adams; and aunt and uncle, Sara and Carl Blueford.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home where a viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Rev. Robert Daniels will officiate and interment will follow at Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crisfield Academy and High School Athletics, 210 N. Somerset Avenue, Crisfield, MD 21817.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Vijay Karumbunathan, nurses and staff at the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home for providing such wonderful care to Bonnie during her residence there.
Arrangements are in the care of Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home. To send condolences, please visit www.bradshawandsonsfuneralhome.com
