The opening reception will be a part of 3rd Friday this week from 5 to 7 p.m. The Foyer Gallery Solo Exhibitor will be Shadi Jahelka, the 2014 BAYS Winner.

Judge Michael Morris, of the school system’s Visual and Performing Arts program will evaluate four categories: Preschool-K; Elementary, Middle and High School.

Children do not have to be a part of an art program, can be home schooled, traditional or private school. There will be awards in each level.

54th Stamp Club Show is Saturday

The Eastern Shore Stamp Club will hold its 54th annual stamp show on Saturday, Feb. 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at American Legion Post No. 64 at 1109 American Legion Road.

The show will feature stamp frame displays and exhibits, eight stamp dealers and free stamps and activities for kids.

Coins and postcards, as well as refreshments will also be available for sale. Admission is free. For more information, call (302) 846-2746.

Heart for the Arts is Saturday at AI&G

 Live music and dancing with Pam Miller & Friends -- as well as wine, beer and hors d'oeuvres -- will be offered Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Art Institute and Gallery in Downtown Salisbury.

There will also be spectacular live art and silent auctions all night.

Performer Pam Miller has a degree in Vocal Performance from Salisbury University and draws from many genres; she can go funky Blues, scat some crazy rhythms, go Broadway, go 1960s-70s or go to her Gospel roots.

Miller will be accompanied by David Zipse on the piano. Zipse is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory of Music. His rendition of “Rhapsody in Blue” brought down the house at the Rehoboth Jazz Festival during Miller’s 1920s show last fall.

Educational Personnel's winter luncheon is Tuesday

Wicomico Retired Educational Personnel's winter luncheon will feature a musical performance by students from the Visual and Performing Arts program.

The event is Tuesday at noon at the Salisbury Moose Lodge at 833 Snow Hill Road. At 11:30 a.m., there will be a half-hour social before the meeting and lunch

Food, personal hygiene and cleaning supplies will be collected for Christian Shelter as a community service effort. All retired staff from Wicomico County Schools are welcome.

Mezzo soprano Christina Carr to perform Sunday

Guest mezzo soprano Christina Carr joins the Allegheny Trio in concert 7 p.m. Sunday in the Great Hall of Salisbury University’s Holloway Hall.

The program features two major works by Robert Schumann. Liederkreis, Op. 39, is a set of songs written in 1840 based on poems by Joseph von Eichendorff which Schumann described as his “most romantic music ever.” Piano Trio No. 1, written in 1847 and described by the composer as a “time of gloomy moods,” is idiosyncratic and multifaceted and considered one of the definitive piano trios of the period.
