SALISBURY - Betty Jean Mabry Waggoner died at Coastal Hospice By The Lake on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Forrest Summers Mabry and Bertha Smith Mabry. Her husband, Ford C. Waggoner, Jr. preceded her in death in 1987. She was employed for many years as secretary to the Maryland State Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Thomas Pullen. In her later years, she was an active member of Grace UMC in Salisbury volunteering many hours in the church thrift store. She was also an active member of Christian Women's Club. In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Mabry. She is survived by her son, Ford C. Waggoner, III, Bonnie Gaines, Jack Waggoner, Tom Waggoner and JoAnn Waggoner; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Bounds Funeral Home in Salisbury on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017. Burial followed at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron.
