CAMBRIDGE - Betty Mae Elzey, 78, of Cambridge passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at Chesapeake Woods Center. She was born in Hudson on Oct. 12, 1932, and was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Bergie Seward Wheatley. Mrs. Elzey attended schools in Cambridge. On Dec. 21, 1951, she married Robert L. "Buddy" Elzey. Mr. Elzey passed away on Jan. 10, 2008. She worked for Rob Roy and later at Airpax. She enjoyed camping and motorcycle riding. She is survived by a brother, Robert Wheatley of Cambridge and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Elzey was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Mae Elzey; a sister, Mary Catherine Brooks; and three brothers, Howard Wheatley, Vernon Wheatley, and Willard Wheatley. A funeral service was 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge with Rev. Abraham Lankford officiating. Family received friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of ones choice.
