Over the past several decades wildfowl artists have dramatically extended the creative ways that they represent birds and their habitats. At the forefront of these changes, influencing the trajectory of the art form itself, is 16-time Best in World carver and sculptor Larry Barth.

The Ward Museum is excited to showcase many of Barth’s finest works of art in a new one-man exhibit in the LaMay Gallery this spring: "Larry Barth: Birds, Art & Design." This will be a unique opportunity to see the progression of Barth’s work, as well as to gain meaningful insight into the artist’s mind. Through Barth’s breathtaking art, as well as stories and information from the artist, visitors will experience the world of a true master.

A free opening reception will be held on March 11 from 5-7:00 pm, and the exhibit runs through August 21, 2016. Larry Barth will be at the Ward Museum for the reception, and to sign his new book, Larry Barth: Birds, Art & Design. This new work explores significant sculptures spanning Barth's 35-year career, many of which will be in the exhibit. Narrated in Barth's own words, it includes illustrations, field notes, and sketches that are the background for all his sculptures. You can purchase the book at Treetops Gifts, in-store and online.

Additional opportunities to meet the artist and engage with the exhibit will be presented during the 2016 Ward World Championship, April 22-24, 2016, in Ocean City, MD, as well as at the Museum. Visit www.wardmuseum.org or call 410-742-4988 for more information.
