SALISBURY -- Bernard Rubin, 84, of Salisbury, died on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at Coastal Hospice in Salisbury. He is survived by Toby, his wife of 58 years; sons Howard of Bridgeport, Conn., Leonard of Salisbury, and Allan of Vienna, Va.; seven grandchildren; and four sisters, Shirley Weinstein, Zelda Stein, Sarah Jacobs and Roberta Goldberg. He was the son of Eli and Frances Rubin and was preceded in death by sister Irma Goldstein and brother Merwin Rubin. Born and raised in Springfield, Mass., he served his country as a U.S. Army Sergeant during the Korean conflict and as a member of the Presidential Honor Guard. A born salesman and lifelong entrepreneur, he started and ran several seafood and real estate businesses in Cape Cod, Atlantic, Va., and Chincoteague. His most prominent company, Chincoteague Seafood Co. Inc., operates in Parsonsburg. He became an active member of the local community upon arriving in Salisbury in 1972. A lifetime member of the Salisbury Elks No. 817, he was also an accomplished singer and performed with the Peninsulaires for 40 years. He was a pillar of the local Jewish community at Beth Israel Congregation in Salisbury. Funeral services were held at Beth Israel Synagogue on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015.
