Two Salisbury women were in the Wicomico County Detention Center charged with controlled dangerous substance violations and assault after a relative who called 911 was jumped by his sister and kicked by his mother, who later fled from deputies, according to the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office.

Elizabeth Waybright, 54, and Britani Nikole Elburn, 19, were being held on $60,000 and $50,000 bonds respectively, deputies said.

Waybright was charged with second-degree assault, obstructing and hindering, failure to obey a lawful order, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, manufacturing CDS and maintaining a common nuisance for the manufacturing of CDS, deputies said.

Elburn was charged with second-degree assault, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacturing CDS and maintaining a common nuisance for the manufacturing of CDS, deputies said.

On April 15 at 12:40 p.m., deputies were called to the 6000 block of Mary Jane Drive off Nanticoke Road for a disturbance at a home there. They met with a man who identified himself as Waybright’s son and Elburn’s sister. The man said he was staying at the home, owned by his mother.

He said he found a marijuana growing operation in the basement and when he confronted his mother and sister they refused to stop the operation.

He said he would call police, but the phone was knocked from his hand and he was jumped on, punched and bitten, deputies said.

While he was on the floor, he said, Waybright kicked him in the head and neck.

Deputies directed the women to wait outside while a search warrant was obtained, but deputies said Waybright ran back inside and tried to lock out deputies. They opened the front door and chased her upstairs, where she attempted to lock herself in a bedroom, deputies said

They opened the door and arrested her, they said.

Deputies said they found four marijuana plants that had been uprooted from pots and thrown into the back yard. Following the execution of the search warrant, they found two more plants in a bedroom upstairs, growing lights, fertilizer and digital scales, deputies said.
