Art Institute & Gallery unveils schedule

The Art Institute & Gallery, located in The Gallery Building at 212 West Main St. in Salisbury, announced the following schedule of events through May:

15th Annual Blooming Artist Youth Show

Feb. 20-March 13

Art Intake Dates: Feb. 14, 9-noon; Feb. 16-17, 11-4.

Opening Reception:  3rd Friday, Feb. 20 5-7.

Foyer Gallery Solo Exhibitor: Shadi Jahelka, 2014 BAYS Winner

Judge:  Michael Morris, VPA Program

Four Categories:  Preschool-K; Elementary, Middle & High School

Children do not have to be a part of an art program, can be home-schooled, traditional or private school. School teachers are encouraged to enter their children’s work.

All work must be completed by the child; awards in each level.

Sponsors are needed for the Youth Show, along with food items. AI&G receives no entry fees or commissions on art sold.

Photography Show

March 20 - April 10

Art Intake Dates: March 14, 9-noon; M&T March 16-17, 11-3

Opening Reception: 3rd Friday, March 20, 5-8

Judge: Carl Goldhagen

Foyer Gallery: Solo Exhibit of Scott Kasden entitled  “Photography on Metal.”

Art for the Heart

Saturday, Feb. 21, 6-10 at AI&G.

Entertainment, hors d’oeuvre, beer and wine, art auction, silent auction. Proceeds benefit AI&G. $20 per person, $30 per couple.

Donations of artwork appreciated. Call for details.

Special Lecture

March 28, Saturday; time and place TBA

“Forensic Facial Reconstruction and the Anatomy of Art”

Richelle Kauffmann of Falls Church, VA will discuss the correlation of art, anatomy and science. Richelle has been instrumental in the forensic side of anatomical details as seen in such shows as Bones and NCIS. Additionally, a possible workshop is being discussed. This is a ticketed event as seating is limited. In advance, tickets are $5; at the door, tickets are $7.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game: Popcorn, Peanuts & Cracker Jacks.

Season Lasts: April 17 - May 8.

Art Intake: April 11, 9-4; M&T April 13-14, 11-3.

All Media Accepted -- Must be baseball-themed.

Juried for Adults Age 18-plus; Youth Grades:  Little League - Grades 3-5; Pony League - Grades 6-8 and Big Leagues Grades 9-12.  See website for more detail.

May 15-June 12

Works will be juried on May 12.
