Armed robbery at Pittsville Dollar General investigated

The Wicomico Bureau of Investigation is investigating the armed robbery of Dollar General on Sixty Foot Road in Pittsville, according to Maryland State Police.

The store was robbed at 9:49 p.m. March 29, after someone entered the store, brandished a handgun, demanded money from employees and fled, police said.

Nobody was injured.

The suspect was wearing a black face mask, black hooded jacket, black gloves, black shoes with white soles and blue jeans and was carrying a black and silver pistol, police said.

The suspect drove away in a dark Dodge Charger with a War of 1812 license plate, police said. The license plate number has an 8 in it, police said.

Anyone with information should call the bureau of investigation.

 

Damage probed at credit union ATM

Salisbury Police are investigating damage to the ATM at the State Employees’ Credit Union on Mount Hermon Road on March 8.

Police said the camera at the machine captured an image of a man trying to pry open the machine.

They said they are searching for a white or Hispanic man, 40 to 50 years old, wearing a black jacket and black winter cap.

Telephone fraud under investigation

Salisbury Police are investigating telephone fraud that resulted in $2 million in bills for fraudulent overseas calls.

Police were called to the 100 block of Milford  Street on March 26 for the fraud.

Police said in February, the company was contacted by Verizon and AT&T and notified of suspicious activity on multiple telephone lines in businesses in Salisbury and Ocean City.

Someone compromised the Milford Street company’s voice processing system auto attendant software, allowing him to call Gambia, Africa, Ascension Island off the coast of Africa and Roseau, Dominica, in the Southern Caribbean, police said.

Police said they are working with the telephone companies and the FBI to resolve the matter.

City issues shoplifting report

In an effort to reduce shoplifting, Salisbury Police released names of those arrested from March 23 to March 29.

Charged were Jon Tomas Jefferson, 41, of Laurel; Craig Robert Donoway, 34, of Nanticoke; Tachina Renay-Oshawna Butler, 21, of Salisbury; Takira Katrace-Oshay Butler, 22, of Salisbury;  Stephen  Christopher Roach, 45, of Georgetown; Michael Lee Stakiel, 34, of Seaford; Kahlique Darrius Lane, 21, of Salisbury; Robert Lee Jefferson, 43, of Laurel; and Amanda Marie Little, 28, of Laurel.
