Arline Mae Wiley

SALISBURY - Arline Mae Wiley died on Thurs., Apr. 9, 2015, at Atria Assisted Living in Salisbury with family by her side. Born in New Orleans, she was the daughter of the late John H. Whitman and Ethel Rice Whitman. She was raised in Jamaica Estates, N.Y. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Wave during World War II in Washington, D.C. After being discharged, she and her family moved to Troy, N.Y., where she met and married Walter D. Wiley. She is survived by her daughter, Claudia Young of Seaford; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Walter J. Wiley; and a brother, John H. Whitman. A funeral service was held Mon., Apr. 13, 2015, at Holloway Funeral Home. Interment was in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Coastal Hospice.
