SUMMARY: Another playoff hat trick for a Finnish forward the Dallas Stars acquired in a trade during the regular season. This time, it was a first for Mikael Granlund. Missouri House backs new stadium incentives to try to keep the Chiefs and Royals

SUMMARY: The Missouri House has endorsed a new package of financial incentives to try to keep the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals playing in the state. The legislation would authorize state bonds valued at up to half the costs of the stadium projects, plus tax credits. But the legislation doesn’t list a total overall cost or location for the stadiums, leaving those details to be negotiated later. The package has the backing of Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe. But the clock is ticking for the Senate to also embrace it before a Friday deadline to wrap up work. The plan is intended to counter a stadium financing plan from Kansas.

Rick Welts was at the 1st NBA lottery. And he was there when Mavs won a chance to draft Cooper Flagg

SUMMARY: Rick Welts was there, 40 years to the date earlier, when the NBA draft lottery got started. He worked for the league then and was in the room when that first one took place. And it seems he’s spent much of the four decades since debunking the rumors that the 1985 lottery was rigged so the New York Knicks would get Patrick Ewing. Given all the extraordinary measures including witnesses, accountants, videotaping of the event that goes into running such a thing, it’s reasonable to conclude that the 2025 lottery wasn’t fixed, either. WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson is fueled by the Aces falling short last season

SUMMARY: A’ja Wilson went into last season trying to prove she was indeed the WNBA’s best player even if MVP voters thought otherwise in 2023. She then went out and put together one of the best performances in league history. The problem is her teammates didn’t all come along. The two-time defending champion Aces never quite found their game and eventually were eliminated by eventual winner New York in the semifinals. As satisfying as last season was individually for Wilson, failing to meet Las Vegas’ high team standards sticks with her. And that same drive that fueled her last season remains.

Those who follow women’s pro sports are more casual, tending to say they attend or watch games occasionally rather than frequently. People who follow men’s sports, by contrast, are more likely to identify attachments to teams as opposed to players. On Monday, Taylor texted Hendrickson that he’d be fined if he didn’t report to mandatory minicamp next month.
