Anthony Douglas Ross, 58 HEBRON - Anthony Douglas Ross, 58, of Hebron, passed away at his home on Dec. 30, 2009. He was born in Dorchester County on Nov. 26, 1951, to the late James C. Johnson and Nettie Ross. He grew up in Hooper's Island. During his early years he worked on fishing boats in Hooper's Island and attended Mace's Lane High School' Anthony worked as a custodian at mallard Bay for 29 years. He was later blessed with a job with the Dorchester county public school where he worked for the past 16 months. He lived for and loved the Lord! Anthony enjoyed reading and spreading the word of God and singing. He was an extremely loving husband and wonderful father and grandfather. He was attending Faith deliverance House of Prayer in Elwood under Pastor Alvin Peterson. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Velma Ross; a son, Anthony Strawberry; a daughter, Erica Strawberry; a goddaughter, Tawanda (Kunta) Stanley; one brother, Norman Ross of Baltimore; five grandkids, Jirah Payton, Jih'la Jenkins, Antony Richardson, Anthony Strawberry, Jr., Jalik Jones; in-laws, Geneva (Harvey) Elliott, Wayne (Minette) Jones, Desiree Jones, Sandra (Ernest) Pinkney, and Fredrick Jones, Jr. He also leaves behind two special nieces, Vanessa and Sherice Ross; two nephews, Nathaniel, and Leroy Chester; and a host of cousins. Preceding him in death are two brothers, Howard Ross, and Earl Ross; and one sister, Joyce Ross Chester. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 9, at Refuge Temple Church of God Cambridge. A viewing will be Friday, Jan. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bennie Smith Funeral Home Cambridge. All services are being entrusted to Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Salisbury.
