DELMAR - Anne Dickerson Calloway died Sunday, Jun. 4, 2017, at Salisbury Nursing Home. She was born on the family farm between Laurel and Sharptown, the daughter of the late Norman O. Dickerson and Fannie Hearne Dickerson.
She attended the Ellis Grove School, a one-room country school for the first six years and graduated from Laurel High School with the Class of 1943. She went to work at the Bank of Delmarva shortly after graduation and worked there for several years. She married William C. Calloway in 1949 and together they owned and operated the Bi-State Printing Co., where they published the "Bi-State Weekly," newspaper. In 1966 the business was sold and she went to work as an aide at Delmar Elementary School for many years.
A longtime member of St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Delmar, she was also a member of the Laurel Alumni Association.
She is survived by two daughters, Cathy Wettlaufer and Norma Faye Hudson; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, who died in 2010; and a brother, John O. Dickerson.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Jun. 10, 2017, at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Interment was at St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.
