CAMBRIDGE - Anita M. Meredith, 85, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Dorchester General Hospital.

She was born in Chester, PA. on Nov. 11, 1922 and was a daughter of the late David W. and Lillian Dryden Horner.

She graduated from Cambridge High School in 1939. In her early years she lived in Princess Anne and in 1937 moved to Cambridge.

On April 26, 1943 she married Thomas V. Meredith Jr. He passed away on May 6, 1990.

Mrs. Meredith worked for various offices in Cambridge as a secretary. She enjoyed reading, her family and her pets.

Mrs. Meredith was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1944 and the Fidelis Sunday school class.

She is survived by a daughter, Donna J. Justice of Cambridge; a son, Michael R. Meredith and wife, Madeline of Stuart, Fla., formerly of Cambridge; two granddaughters, Raye Ellen Horner and husband, Tyler of Salisbury and Jennifer Justice of Cambridge; a grandson, Thomas Milton Meredith and wife, Yvonne of Stuart, Fla.; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty H. Marshall of Cambridge and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, David W. Horner Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Jerry Wade officiating. Burial will follow at Old Trinity Churchyard. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be John Rust, Charles Horner, Jay Meredith, Wayne Asplen, Andy Engle and Tyler Horner.

Memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 501 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.
