Andrew E. 'Sonny' Clausser, 72

HURLOCK - Andrew E. "Sonny" Clausser, of Hurlock, formerly of Laurel, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. He was 72. Born Dec. 15, 1936, in Olney, he was the son of the late Reuben Andrew Clausser and Bernice Adler Clausser. Mr. Clausser was a U.S. Navy veteran. For many years he worked at the D.C. Children's Center as a power plant engineer, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Choptank Lodge 138, AF&AM in East New Market, Hurlock American Legion Post 243, Maryland Saltwater Sport Fisherman's Association and Ruark Boatworks where he would often assist on Wednesday mornings. He is survived by his wife, Billie Ann Clausser, whom he married on July 14, 1956; a daughter, Diane Grauel of Gambrills; a sister-in-law, Judy Harden and her husband Bob of Frostburg; an aunt, Elsie Bonnett of Hurlock; and several cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Timothy Grauel. Funeral service will be noon Friday, April 10, at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market where friends may call Thursday, April 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Rev. Delmer Willey will officiate. Interment will follow in East New Market Cemetery.
