Alma J. Davis, 78

CAMBRIDGE - Alma J. Davis, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, in Dorchester General Hospital. She was 78. She was born in Midland, on Dec. 17, 1929, and was a daughter of the late Robert and Cecil Shepherd Miller. Mrs. Davis graduated from Beall High School in Frostburg. On Feb. 13, 1951 she married William E. Davis. He passed away on March 4, 1996. She had worked for several insurance companies. She was an avid reader and loved to paint. She is survived by a son, William E. Davis Jr. and his wife Ellen, of College Park; two grandsons, Christopher D. Davis, and Kevin B. Davis, both of College Park; two brothers, Robert Miller, of Pa., and Thomas Miller, of Ga.; a sister, Betty Mallow, of Cumberland; two nephews; and two nieces. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2008 at Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, Md 21502. Interment will be private. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 114 Baptist St., Salisbury, MD 21801; or to the Heart Fund, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060. Local arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
