Aline Slacum Cephas, 89

CAMBRIDGE - Aline Slacum Cephas, departed this life Thursday, October 8, 2009, in the Mallard Bay Nursing Home, Cambridge, after a lengthy illness. She was 89. Leaving behind to carry on her legacy of love is one daughter, Doretta Lawrence of Chester, Pa.; two sisters, Leotha Slacum, a resident of Deers Head Hospital Center, and Eunice Jenkins (New York City); 12 grandchildren, Darnell, Anthony, Edgar, Tyrone, Robert, William, Portia, Yolanda, Crystal, Carla, Carlos Jr. (all of Baltimore, Md.), and Mikette Cephas (Chester, Pa.); a devoted niece, Faye Waters (Leon); nephews, Alfred Slacum (Nicie) and Donald Willis; and cousins, Elaine Stafford, Ellamae Cornish, Barbara Cummings, John Sampson (Roberta), William Sampson (Pensie), Calvin Sampson (Bernice) and Agurtha Jones (Wayne), with whom she had a special relationship. Funeral services were 1 p.m. Thursday, October 15, 2009, at Waugh Chapel UM Church, 425 High St., Cambridge, with a viewing two hours prior to the services.
