HURLOCK - Alice B. Whitesel, of Hurlock, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 1, 2009. She was 78. Alice was born Feb. 7, 1931, to the late Merrit and Mina Pritchett of Bishops Head. She was the wife of the late Raymond T. Whitesel, also of Hurlock and the sister of the late Ruth Pritchett of Cambridge and the late Shirley Robinson of Hurlock. She leaves behind three sons, William Perry and wife Jeanette of Bridgeville, Del., Vernon Perry of Boston, Mass., and James Perry and wife Kay of Hartly, Del.; a brother, Jim Pritchett of Rhodesdale; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews. Alice graduated from Crapo High School and continued her education to earn a degree in nursing. She enjoyed sharing stories of what it was like to grow up in Bishops Head. She loved eating Chesapeake Bay crabs, she loved her pets, but most of all, she loved her family and the Lord. Prior to her retirement in 1994, she worked for 29 years as a Registered Nurse at The Eastern Shore Hospital Center in Cambridge. She will be missed by the many she worked with during her career. In recent years, Alice was a resident of Mallard Bay Signature Care Center in Cambridge where she leaves behind many dear friends, both staff and resident. Alice was a proud member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Hurlock. She also loved visiting Full Gospel Church in Clayton, Del., when she was in the area. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 303 S. Main Street, Hurlock. There will be a time of fellowship following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Alice's memory to the Humane Society of Dorchester County, P.O. Box 132, Cambridge, MD 21613.
