Alfonso Steven Fitchett

Alfonso Fitchett

HURLOCK - Alfonso Steven Fitchett, 76, passed away on Nov. 9,2006. He was the son of the late Mary Elizabeth Fitchett and John Ames in Norfolk, Virginia. He was born July 10,1930. He attended and graduated Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk. He continued his education at the Christian World School of Theology where he graduated with an Associates and Bachelor's Degree.

Alphonso Fitchett was an assistant Pastor of Union Baptist Church and Revelation Baptist located in Hurlock.

He is survived by a son, Hugh Hamberry; two grandchildren; a sister, Louise Ames Johnson of Painter, Va.; a brother, Elder John Fitchett Sr; a sister-in-law, Shirley Fitchett of Cambridge; an aunt, Gertrude Gilbert of New York and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. Preceding him in his death is his mother, father and one sister, Sarah Roger Harmon and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Cambridge. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be in Waugh Church Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home in Cambridge.
