SALISBURY - Albert William "Big Al" Herz died in his home surrounded by loved ones on April 12, 2018. Born in Baltimore, his parents were the late Elisabeth Connelly and Albert Joseph Herz. At a young age, he and his younger brother were orphaned and lived with their grandmother, Anna Wolf Connelly. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard in Alaska's Lucian Islands and then took a job with the National Security Agency, until his retirement. Later, he ran his own business, Herz TV. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lillian; children, Cynthia Freeman, Suzanne Sanatamaria, Sharon Owens, Daniel Herz, Chris Herz and Dianne Cleary; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Cook. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, April 16, 2018, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Interment will be private. Arrangements are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury.
