Adelle Sarah Crockett, 88 TANGIER, Va. - Mrs. Adelle Sarah Crockett, 88, a lifelong resident of Tangier, peacefully passed into the presence of the Lord Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, Md. Born on Dec. 16, 1921, Mrs. Crockett was the wife of the late Samuel G. Crockett and the daughter of the late Hobson H. Crockett and Vienna W. Crockett. She was a retired teacher's aide from Tangier Combined School whose genuine love for children and education inspired the lives and touched the hearts of many young Tangiermen who were fortunate enough to experience her steadfast guidance and loving care. She was a devout member of New Testament Church where she joyfully worshipped her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She lived her whole life bearing powerful witness to His eternal love and tender mercy and eagerly sharing to all the good news of God's saving grace and redemption. Indeed, her whole life was truly a profound witness and extraordinary testimony to God's unending love and grace. She is survived by one daughter, Darlene C. Rodgers and husband, Frank M. Rodgers; two granddaughters, Suzanne Pruitt and husband, Christopher Pruitt and Carolee Charnock and husband, Junior Charnock; two great-grandchildren, Austin Pruitt and Brittany Pruitt; one brother, Douglas H. Crockett; and several nieces and nephews. Other than her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Wendy C. Pruitt. Funeral services were conducted from the New Testament Church on Tangier on Saturday, June 12, 2010. Interment followed in the New Testament Church Cemetery. Her entire family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation to the management and staff of Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home for the kind and loving care she received during her residency there. Thanks and appreciation are also extended to the doctors and staff of McCready Memorial Hospital in Crisfield, Md., for all their efforts on her behalf.
