As part of a recent $18 billion settlement that Meta Platforms reached with 48 states, the company will strengthen its age estimates to keep individuals under 13 off its sites and keep older teens in age-appropriate accounts. It will also enact stronger duration limits for users under 18 and block children from the apps from midnight until 6 a.m., among other changes. Do you think these rules will protect youth from some of the dangers of social media?

As a father, I’ve learned that kids pay attention to more than we think. They learn from the stories we tell them and from the example adults set. I have two boys at home and a daughter due any day now. Like most parents, I want my kids reading books, asking a million questions and using their imaginations. I want them to learn to be curious, thoughtful and kind.
