Delaware lawmakers are committed to raising the minimum wage $1/hour by 2020. This increase has the potential to have a positive impact in communities across the state.
However, I am concerned that the inclusion of the youth and training wage will push adult workers out of the job market because young people will be cheaper to hire.
Lawmakers seem content to play the blame game on how and why this measure was passed; however, none of that really matters to the concerned citizens of Delaware. If we want to continue forward in the fight against poverty, then Delaware needs to commit to paying all workers equal pay for equal work.
