DOVER - A 26-year-old Bridgeville woman was charged with carjacking and other alleged offenses after a Sunday afternoon incident, police said.
At approximately 4:50 p.m., Dover Police said, a 65-year-old woman was sitting in a parked vehicle in the area of East Loockerman Street and Federal Street when Ryadae Jones allegedly entered the vehicle. Ms. Jones started the car and began to drive eastbound on Loockerman Street as the woman was being assaulted, police said.
Despite the struggle with Ms. Jones, police said, the woman was able to put the car in park and Ms. Jones allegedly fled on foot with the keys.
Ms. Jones was apprehended a short time later by responding officers without incident.
Charges included first-degree carjacking, theft under $1,500 and offensive touching. Ms. Jones was committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Center in default of $61,100 secured bond.
