War to bring classic sounds to Dover Dec. 6

DOVER  - War, the multi-platinum-selling funk group that has been on the music scene for almost five decades, will perform at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino’s Rollins Center Dec. 6 at 9 p.m.

Tickets will go on sale Tuesday at noon, and can be purchased by visiting doverdowns.com. Prices range from $35-$55.

War has sold more than 50 million records since its formation in 1969. The group’s seven Billboard Top 10 hits, and 12 Top 40 hits, include the timeless classics “Why Can’t We Be Friends,” “Low Rider,” “The World Is A Ghetto,” “The Cisco Kid,” and more.

The band’s albums “Greatest Hits,” “Eric Burdon Declares War,” “The Best of War and More…,” and “War Live” have received platinum and multi-platinum certifications.

Seven of WAR’s albums have reached Gold status, including “All Day Music” (1971), “The World Is a Ghetto” (1972), “Deliver the Word” (1973), “Why Can’t We Be Friends” (1975), “Platinum Jazz” (1976), “Galaxy” (1977) and “The Music Band,” (1979).

Dover Downs also announced Monday that the Glenn Miller Orchestra will bring their classic, big-band favorites back to Dover Downs Hotel & Casino on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show.

Tickets will also go on sale Tuesday at noon and can be purchased online at doverdowns.com or by contacting VIP Services at (800) 711-5882. Prices range from $13-$18.
