DOVER — Two men were indicted on Monday for their alleged roles in a shooting incident on June 28 in Harrington at a birthday party that had up to 300 attendees.

In Kent County Superior Court, a grand jury charged Elijah Desir, of Seaford, and Laquan Johnson, of Harrington, with first-degree reckless endangering, aggravated menacing, riot and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Mr. Desir, of Seaford Meadow Apartments, was 19 at the time arrests were announced on July 23, and Mr. Johnson, of the 100 block of Fleming Street, was 17.

Harrington Police Department said a multi-agency response was conducted to a reported shooting at a residence in the 100 block of East Street at approximately 1:15 a.m. Also responding were the Delaware State Police, Felton Police Department and Delaware Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement.

Police said six people had been shot at a birthday party and taken to local hospitals — one by ambulance and five by private vehicle. All wounds were non-life threatening, police said.

According to authorities, Mr. Johnson was arrested without incident on July 21 at his Fleming Street residence. Mr. Desir turned himself in to Harrington Police on July 23, authorities said.
