BRIDGEVILLE - Delaware State Police arrested a Rehoboth Beach man after a traffic stop for loud music Tuesday evening led to the discovery of drugs.

Malik Jarvis

While patrolling the Coverdale area just before 10 p.m. April 23, members of the Governor’s Task Force encountered a silver Hyundai Sonata southbound on Coverdale Road in the area of Mill Park Drive playing loud music.

Upon contacting the driver, 25-year-old Malik T. Jarvis, during the traffic stop, marijuana was detected inside the vehicle, state police spokesman Master Cpl. Melissa Jaffe said.

In a subsequent search of the vehicle authorities seized a plastic container containing approximately 443.10 grams of marijuana along with more than $900 in suspected drug proceeds, Cpl. Jaffe said.

Jarvis was taken into custody and taken to Troop 4 where he was charged with: Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance; Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 quantity; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (two counts); Fictitious or Cancelled Registration Card; Operation of an Unregistered Motor Vehicle; Loud Music or Noise which is plainly audible from a distance of 50 feet or more from Vehicle.

Jarvis was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $7,604 unsecured bond.
