DOVER — The number of individuals hospitalized with COVID-19 in Delaware increased to 142, according to the Delaware Division of Public Health’s update Monday which reflects data as of Sunday at 6 p.m.

It is an increase of four compared to the day prior. The DPH originally reported 129 hospitalizations for data corresponding to Saturday but that has since been updated to 138 due to provider reporting delays.

Of the 142 hospitalizations in the most recent report, 16 cases are considered critical. New Castle County has the most COVID-19 hospitalizations with 94, followed by Kent County’s 30 and Sussex County’s 18.

The DPH announced three more newly reported COVID-19-related deaths on Monday to bring the state’s total to 1,581. Two of the three were as a result of a review of Vital Statistics records from February.

The three individuals ranged in age from 65 years old to 87 years old. All three were from New Castle County and none were a resident of a long-term care facility.

Delaware has recorded a total of 98,925 positive COVID-19 cases, including 357 new cases included in Monday’s report. The seven-day rolling average for daily new positive cases of the virus is up to 334.6 cases per day which is the highest total in the last 10 days.

An additional 646 individuals tested negative for COVID-19, increasing that total number to 577,077.

There have been 568,003 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine administered in Delaware as of Sunday at 11:59 p.m., according to the state’s immunization information system DelVAX.

Of those vaccinated in Delaware, 214,720 are fully vaccinated with 193,797 total persons receiving both doses of a two-dose vaccine series and 20,923 receiving a one-dose series. Another 159,437 individuals have received their first dose of a two-dose series and are awaiting their second.
