CAMDEN-WYOMING — Two people were arrested at the scene of an alleged residential burglary Saturday morning, and a third was taken into custody at another location, police said.

According to the Delaware State Police, troopers went to a reported burglary in progress at 10:04 a.m. at a foreclosed property at 64 Peridot Place, and located two people in the basement.

Police said investigation found a white female driving a black Dodge Neon reportedly had dropped off two white males at the residence. Two men — Camden-Wyoming residents Brian K. Sandoz, 30, and William M. Shumate III, 44, — were detained as troopers searched the home’s interior, according to spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz.

Police alleged the two men were found with burglary tools and had cut off most of the copper wiring and piping from the basement ceiling.

As investigation continued, police said it was found that Monica D. Shumate, 44, of Camden-Wyoming, allegedly had driven the two men to the scene. She was apprehended at 5991 Mud Mill Road west of Wyoming, police said.

Mr. Sandoz was charged with second-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, felony theft, felony criminal mischief and felony conspiracy. Mr. Sandoz was also currently wanted for previous investigations involving multiple alleged felony thefts, forgeries and conspiracy on May 18, 2015, and another investigation where he was wanted for alleged identity theft and felony theft on June 5, 2015, police said. Mr. Sandoz was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna in default of $13,500 cash bond.

Mr. Shumate and Mrs. Shumate were both charged with second-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, felony theft, felony criminal mischief and felony conspiracy, and received $8,000 secured bonds after arraignment at Court 3. Mr. Shumate was held at Vaughn Correctional, Mrs. Shumate at Delores J. Baylor Correctional Institution in New Castle.
