DOVER — Three felony DUI arrests were made in Kent County in two days last week, according to police and court documents.

The sequence began Friday when Terrance Ellis, 34, of Milford, was stopped after a red Pontiac Grand Prix he was driving was allegedly seen by patrol officers failing to signal a left turn at approximately 2:55 p.m.

Investigation began after the vehicle was stopped on NW 10th Street, authorities said, and officers arrested Mr. Ellis after conducting tests.

According to police, Mr. Ellis had three previous DUI convictions and a revoked driver’s license. He was taken into custody and charged with fourth offense DUI of alcohol, driving while license suspended/revoked, failure to signal turn, and driving in proper lane direction.

Mr. Ellis was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 2 in Rehoboth Beach and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown on a $6,502 unsecured bail. He was ordered to appear in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas in Dover for a preliminary hearing at a later date.

• On Friday, Michael J. Schepens, 36, of Dover, was charged with a third DUI offense and alleged traffic-related offenses. His case was transferred to the Kent County Court of Common Pleas after an initial appearance at JP Court 7 in Dover.

Mr. Schepens was charged with misdemeanor insurance card violation, driver’s license suspended/revoked, second-degree vehicular assault and endangering the welfare of a child. An improper lane change and seat belt violation were also cited.

• Early Saturday, Octavio Hernandez-Lopez, 23, of Dover, was charged with a third offense DUI of alcohol. The charge was transferred to Kent County CCP after first sent to JP Court 7.

Dover Police alleged that Mr. Hernandez-Lopez was seen passed out in the driver’s seat of a vehicle in a McDonald’s drive-thru lane at 12:25 a.m. Officers were called to the scene at 915 S. DuPont Highway and took him into custody without incident.

Mr. Hernandez-Lopez was committed to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond.
