Ida flooding affecting vendor’s servers

DOVER — Several Walgreens pharmacies in Delaware are unable to process prescriptions or administer COVID-19 tests due to flooding from Hurricane Ida.

The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services said the vendor that manages Walgreens’ internet, phone and servers has been impacted by the recent storm. The company announced Tuesday that it was halting all COVID-19 testing at Walgreens in Delaware until further notice.

The state’s community COVID-19 testing sites are still up and running. A list of testing locations is available here.

Some Walgreens in the state are still able to fill prescriptions. It is advised to call ahead and check with the facility if medication is needed.

Prescription holders were also urged by Walgreens to attempt to contact a pharmacist at a location they may not normally use, if they are having trouble filling prescriptions.

DHSS said “as soon as the phone, internet and store servers are restored and prescriptions can be processed again, we will work to relay that information.”

One commentator on the DHSS Facebook page said she had been waiting for a prescription to be filled for five days.

“Makes no sense for Walgreens to not have had issues fixed by now,” she said. “I’ve not heard of any other pharmacies impacted.”
