See what’s cooking at local eateries during Kent County Restaurant Week
DOVER — A Sunday brunch at Harvest Ridge Winery catered by the new Inn at Duck Creek, a specialty chicken salad sandwich offered by Frankfurt Bakery & Deli, three course meals featuring exquisite menu items from Doc Magrogan’s Oyster House and even “backstage” kitchen tours and biscuit-making demonstrations at Chick Fil A North Dover are just some of the highlights of the second annual 2015 Kent County Restaurant Week, set for Oct. 18-25.

Baker Photography)[/caption] “We started Kent County Restaurant Week last year as an offshoot of the Delaware Wine and Beer Festival,” said Cindy Small, executive director of Kent County Tourism, the organization sponsoring Kent County Restaurant Week along with Sysco of Pocomoke City, Maryland.
“We have so many excellent restaurants in the county that are worthy of being showcased, so what better time than following Delaware’s largest wine, beer and food festival.”
Chef Kevin Reading and Laura Burton, owners of Abbott’s Grill in Milford, are serving as this year’s co-chairs of the event. Abbott’s is an award-winning eatery that has worked with Kent County Tourism on a number of projects such as farm-to-fork meals for tour operators and travel writer familiarization tours.
“We were also pleased to hear that in the coming months,” Ms. Small said, “Abbott’s Grill will partner with Mispillion River Brewing to open Kent County’s first brew pub, which will be located in the town of Smyrna, making Abbott’s a great choice to lead this year’s Restaurant Week in Kent County.”
In addition, a special expo will be held for restaurateurs on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at Harrington Raceway & Casino from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free event will present 25 local suppliers — everything from meats and seafood; wine, beer and spirits; dairy products; and produce — to Kent County restaurant owners. The event will prove that using local products can be just as efficient as bulk ordering.
