The Wesley College women’s indoor track and field team earned a pair of All-America honors at the NCAA Division III national championships in Iowa this weekend.

The Wolverines’ 1,600-meter relay team of Elizsha Streeter, Briana Artis, Quadira Minus, and Angel Hall placed third in the finals with a time of 3:52.06,

Also for Wesley, Evelina Sloboh finished fifth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.64 seconds.

Despite competing in just the two events, the Wolverines earned nine points, good for 26th overall in the team standings.

Wesley’s men also came home from the NCAAs with two All-American awards.

Roland Attoh-Okine took sixth in the 60 hurdles with a the of 8.13 seconds

Anthony Simpson finished eighth in the 60 meters with a time of 6.99 in the finals. DaJahn Lowery finished with a 6.91 in prelims and missing the finals by just 0.05 seconds.

In the 200, Simpson’s preliminary time of 22.22 was just shy of earning a final spot, placing him ninth overall.

The Wesley 1,600 relay team of Vicco Bedell, Carlton Sheppard, Patrick Schlosser, and Nick Stenderowicz finished with a time of 3:19.99 ito place 10th overall.

College baseball

Delaware 5, Binghamton 4: Freshman catcher Adam Rapp’s two-out, two-run single with the bases loaded in the eighth inning brought home the winning run for the Blue Hens.

The victory extended Delaware’s winning streak to six games in a row and helped the Hens (11-4) sweep the four-game series from the Bearcats (2-12). The sweep is the first four-gamer for Delaware since beating Fairleigh-Dickinson in four straight in 2010.

Rapp, whose bases-loaded double on Saturday highlighted Delaware’s 9-7 comeback win, was the hero again as he lined a smash into centerfield to knock in two runs and give the Hens a 5-3 lead.

Delaware starter Burk FitzPatrick pitched six solid innings for Delaware, giving up three runs on four hits and striking out five before giving way to eventual winner Nick Spadafino (Dover).

The Bearcats threatened in the top of the ninth off Spadafino (2-1) after scoring one run on a sacrifice fly. But the sophomore right-hander earned the win as he got pinch-hitter Pat Britt to fly out to right field with one runner on to end the game.

College softball

Delaware sweeps Villanova: Delaware posted a pair of comeback victories over Villanova, 6-4 and 4-3 to conclude the UD Spring Invitational.

The Blue Hens (13-7) had lost their last 10 games against the Wildcats (9-10).

In the opener, Mattie Nuccio hit a two-run single to right to put Delaware on top to stay. UD pitcher Kiersten Coffman then retired the Wildcats in order in the top of the seventh to secure her eighth win.

In the nightcap, Carolyn Szymanski (5-3) allowed just three unearned runs on four hits while not walking a batter. Leanna Gearhart, Anna Steinmetz and Hannah George all had two hits.

College lacrosse

WOMEN, Detroit 22, Delaware State 1: Lauren Perry recorded the Hornets’ lone goal in the loss. DSU was outshot 32-7.
