Wesley College quarterback Joe Callahan was selected to the AFCA Division III Coaches’ All-America team on Monday.

The American Football Coaches Association has selected an All-America team since 1945.

Callahan was one of just 25 players nationwide named an All-American by the AFCA, becoming the 15th Wolverine to be selected to the team. He extends Wesley football’s streak to 11 straight years with a player selected to the AFCA squad, the longest current streak in Division III football.

Callahan became the first NCAA Division III quarterback to throw for more than 5,000 yards in a single season, totaling 5,063 passing yards this year. The senior quarterback also threw for 55 touchdowns, the second-highest single-season total in NCAA Division III history.

He joins Hawaii’s Colt Brennan as the only NCAA quarterbacks among all divisions to ever throw for 5,000 yards or more and 55 touchdowns or more in a single season.

College basketball

Hens’ King-Davis honored: Delaware senior forward Marvin King-Davis was named the Colonial Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week.

King-Davis led Delaware to the 70-69 win at Marist on Saturday by scoring a season-high 20 points and grabbing a game-best 10 rebounds. King-Davis, who has scored in double figures during all eight games this year, notched his league-leading fifth double-double of the season vs. the Red Foxes.

King-Davis leads the CAA and ranks 34th in Division I with 9.8 rebounds per game, while he is second on the Blue Hens and 13th in the league by averaging 14.5 points per contest.

DSU’s Pollard wins MEAC award: Delaware State guard/forward NaJai Pollard was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.

She totaled 13 points and 10 rebounds for her team-leading second double-double of the season in DSU’s 66-44 win over Wagner on Sunday.

Pollard, who has garnered two MEAC Rookie of the Week awards, leads the Hornets in rebounding (6.2 rpg), is second in total blocks (7) and is third in scoring (7.9 ppg).

UD’s Enabosi earns award: Delaware forward Nicole Enabosi earned her second Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week Award.

Enabosi averaged 9.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots over two games for the Blue Hens (4-4). For the year, Enabosi leads the Hens with 7.9 rebounds, 1.9 blocks and 1.9 steals per game and is third for Delaware with 10.1 points per game.

High school basketball

BOYS, Delmarva Christian 46, Salisbury School 38: Micah Magee and Joshua Vonhof netted 13 points apiece as the Royals (3-2) won their third game in a row.

Delmarva outscored Salisbury, 29-17, in the second half.

Laurel 68, Arcadia, Va. 47: The Bulldogs jumped out to a 40-20 halftime lead en route to the nonconference win.

GIRLS, Sussex Tech 60, Sts Peter & Paul 19: Janiya Stevens tallied 17 points as the Ravens evened their record at 2-2.

Mi’Cah Shelton added 13 points while Kara Hignutt added 10 for Sussex Tech.

Delmarva Christian 67, Salisbury School 51: Ashlee McCoy tallied 24 points to pace the Royals to the victory.

Elizabeth Stevens added 17 points, hitting three three-pointers, while Sklar Bennett had 11. Delmarva Christian built a 35-24 halftime lead.
