Demetrius Stevenson tallied seven goals as Caesar Rodney High blanked Wilmington Charter, 16-0, in boys’ lacrosse on Monday.

The Riders (2-0) limited the Force to only five shots as goalies Tyler Gross and Joshua Buxton both made a pair of saves. CR has given up just one goal in its two games.

James Cava (4 goals, 1 assist) and Jared Wagonhoffer (2 goals, 4 assists) also scored multiple goals. Jacob Copio (1 goal), Sean Wooleyhand and Joseph Delgado all had one goal.

Polytech 11, Middletown 3: The Panthers netted seven first-quarter goals — the only goals of the entire first half — before improving to 2-1.

Josh Davis had three goals and an assist with Patrick O’Brien and Jake Davis (1 assist) both scoring twice.

Zach Trabaudo (1 assist) and Chris Rutkoski added Polytech’s other goals with Noah Lust making nine saves. The Panthers outshot the Cavaliers, 25-15.

GIRLS, Appoquinimink 12, Dover 8: The Senators dropped to 1-2 with the nonconference loss.

Archmere 22, Caesar Rodney 11: The Riders fell behind, 13-2, at halftime before playing the Auks even in the second half.

Lillian Ayers had three goals and three assists with Kacie Cava, Noelle Ruggiero and Sawyer Walker all adding two goals.

Jasmin Hall made 15 saves for CR, which was outshot, 38-21.

Smyrna 18, Concord 12: The Eagles improved to 2-1 with the nonconference victory.

Sussex Academy 19, Red Lion 1: Molly Martiner netted four goals to pace the Seahawks to the victory.

Girls’ soccer

Delmarva Christian 2, Sussex Central 1: Mara Agapito and Skylar Bennett both scored goals to pace the Royals.

Claire Marshall made six saves for Delmarva Christian, which finished with advantages of 12-6 in shots and 4-2 in corner kicks.

Serina Brooks scored for the Golden Knights with Stephanie Lane stopping 12 shots.

College lacrosse

Hens get votes in poll: Coming off a 13-9 win over No. 1-ranked Rutgers on Saturday, the Delaware men’s lacrosse squad earned votes in both the national coaches and media Top 20 polls announced Monday .

Delaware, which has now won six of its last seven games, earned votes in both polls this week, garnering recognition in the USILA poll for the second straight week and in the Maverik poll for the first time this season. The Hens last earned votes in the national polls in 2013.

UD players honored: Delaware swept the weekly Colonial Athletic Association player and rookie of the week awards in men’s lacrosse.

Senior co-captain and midfielder Will Hirschmann, who notched his first career hat trick in the win over Rutgers, and freshman goalkeeper Matt DeLuca, who registered a career-high 19 saves, were named the CAA Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

WOMEN, Lancaster Bible 15, Wesley 14: Ashley Luna and Fallon Fore each tallied four goals and an assist for the Wolverines in the one-goal loss.

College softball

UD’s Kondravy honored: Delaware junior first baseman Mariah Kondravy was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week on Monday.

Kondravy batted .444 with team-highs of eight hits, three doubles and six RBI as Delaware won four of five games. She hit a two-run walkoff homer in Delaware’s 6-4 triumph over Villanova.

College golf

Hen men lead tourney: The Delaware men’s golf team fired an even par 284 score on Monday to end the first day of the Villanova Wildcat Invitational in first place out of 19 squads.

Delaware tied for its second-lowest round of the season, and will enter today’s final round holding a one-shot lead over second-place Villanova.

Blue Hen senior Marc Oliveri and junior Kieran Purcell each carded two-under par 69 rounds on Monday on the par 71, 7,055-yard White Manor Country Club course, ending the day tied for third place in the individual standings.

College athletics

Hens coming to Cape: University of Delaware Athletics will hit the road again this spring when the Blue Hens head to Cape Henlopen High for Downstate Day on April 22.

Members of the Delaware football, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, field hockey and spirit squads, along with their coaches, will be on-hand to provide sport-specific activities with the registered youth participants for 45 to 60 minutes.

First-year Delaware football coach Danny Rocco will join the student-athletes and other coaches for a post skills session meet and greet and autograph session on the football field, starting at approximately 4 p.m. For full event details and registration information, visit www.bluehens.com.
