St. Thomas More netted 12 first-half goals before posting a 20-5 victory over Newark in girls’ lacrosse on Friday afternoon.

Gillian Crawford (1 assist) had six goals while Joanna Petrosky (1 assist) added five for the Ravens (2-1), who outshot the Yellowjackets, 32-7.

Zoe Kelly, Caroline Waple, Sophia Stafford (1 assist) and Jessica Simmons (1 assist) all added two goals for St. Thomas More. Madison Murrian made four saves.

Caesar Rodney 16, Sussex Tech 12: Delaney Steele had six goals and an assist as the Riders edged the Ravens.

Tara Daddio (3 assists) and Maegan Stewart (1 assist) added four goals apiece for CR, which held a 7-4 halftime lead. Abby McGowan added the Riders’ other two goals with Katelyn Longest making 26 saves as Sussex Tech outshot CR, 38-26.

Katie Giles had four goals, Madi Bada scored three while Morgan Johnson and Bre Cathell also scored for the Ravens.

Polytech 12, Dover 2: Allie McKay tallied five goals and an assist as the Panthers earned the Henlopen Conference victory.

Also pacing Polytech were Kate Richardson (2 goals, 2 assists), Jamie Trabaudo (2 goals, 1 assist), Maddie McKay (2 goals) and Morgan Cook (1 goal).

Shannon Stephan had four saves as the Panthers outshot Dover, 25-6.

Grace Gast and Elizabeth Ward scored for the Senators, who got 13 saves from Catherine Schoepp.

Cape Henlopen 20, Smyrna 2: Lizzie Frederick had five goals and an assist to spark the Vikings to the Henlopen Conference victory.

Tess Bernheimer (1 assist) and Mallory Jones added three goals each as Cape opened up a 12-1 halftime lead.

Kaitlyn Klabe (2), Evelyn Shoop (2), Lindsay Monigle (2 goals, 2 assists), Chloe Schaeffer (2 goals, 1 assist) and Victoria Lockwood (1 goal, 1 assist) also scored for the Vikings. Cape goalies Iseabal Cryne and Vienna Iacona combined to make eight saves.

Smyrna’s Gabrielle DiRusso stopped 14 shots with Madde Price and Kaila Hindt each scoring a goal.

BOYS, Caesar Rodney 11, Sussex Tech 4: The Riders led 7-0 at halftime before picking up the Henlopen North win.

Jack Bobel (2 assists), Jacob Pangle (1 assist) and Demetrius Stevenson had two goals each for the Riders, who also got goals from Luke Rankin (1 assist), Joshua Cosden, Jacob Copio (1 assist), Nolan Aloe (1 assist) and Brinen Lefevre. Goalies Tyler Gross and Joshua Buxton made four saves each as CR outshot the Riders, 25-16.

The Ravens got two goals and an assist from Matthew Tull and one goal each from Ian Carlisle (1 assist) and Nathan Hanenfeld. Camden Chorman stopped five shots.

Cape Henlopen 19, Smyrna 2: The Vikings improved to 3-0 in the Henlopen North with the victory.

Delmar 12, Lake Forest 6: Andrew Blewitt collected five goals and two assists for the Wildcats in the Henlopen South win.

Delmar took control by outscoring the Spartans, 6-1, in the second quarter. Jeremy Haynes (2), Remington Plunkert (2), Chance Watts and Anthony Ash also scored for the Wildcats while Hunter Gilmore made 12 saves.

Austin Aguilar (3 goals), Benjamin Moore (2 goals, 1 assist) and Zachary Carter (1 goal, 2 assists) led Lake Forest, which got eight saves from Christian Chilton. Both teams took 25 shots.

Baseball

Polytech 11, Milford 1: Winning pitcher Miguel Rivera struck out seven in five innings and added three hits at the plate to pace the Panthers.

Polytech finished the contest with six runs in the bottom of the fifth. Chase Bayley and T.J. Mitchell each contributed two hits to Polytech’s total of 10.

Lake Forest 7, Sussex Central 4: Lake scored four runs in the third to overcome an early 3-0 deficit.

Eric Berardicelli (3-4, 1 RBI), winning pitcher Tyler Collins (2 doubles, 3 RBI), Cody Cole (2 hits) and Cameron Beulah (2 hits) paced the Spartans’ 12-hit attack.

Austin Littleton and D.J. Doherty had two hits apiece for Central.

Caesar Rodney 10, Woodbridge 0: Carlton Voak tossed a five-inning one-hitter while striking out six for the Riders.

CR took control with five runs in the first inning. Blake Donovan (double, 4 RBI). Quintin Ivy (2-for-2, double, 3 runs, 1 RBI), Voak (2 hits) and Thomas Gallucci (2 hits) led the Riders offensively.

Jaylyn Magee had Woodbridge’s lone hit.

Dover 11, Seaford 0: Hiram Davis (4 innings) and Joseph Steele (1 inning) combined to pitch a one-hitter in the Senators’ conference win.

Jordan Hutchins had a triple and double for Dover, which broke the game open with a six-run sixth. The Senators had six extra-base hits.

Caravel 2, Cape Henlopen 1: The Vikings tied the game with a run in the top of the seventh only to have the Buccaneers win it with a run in the bottom of the inning.

Drew Mulcahy had an RBI single in the seventh for Cape, which was limited to three hits.

Smyrna 11, Laurel 1: The Eagles broke the game open with a seven-run third inning.

Pitcher Garrett Casey struck out six in four innings while Jared Gillis (2 doubles, 2 RBI), Shawn Dulin (2 hits) and Larsen Wilson (2 RBI) also led Smyrna.

Zac Baynum and Perez Nichols had the Bulldogs’ two hits.

Sussex Tech 10, Indian River 0: Matt Warrington gave up only three hits while striking out four in 5.1 innings in the Ravens’ shutout win.

Trent Hearn (2 runs) and Jordan Marvel each had two hits and two RBI for Sussex Tech.

Jacob Hudson had two of IR’s three hits.

Salisbury Christian 14, Delmarva Christian 5: Wes Hobbs had a double for the Royals in the loss.

Delmar 13, St. Thomas More 3: The Wildcats finished with 14 hits in the nonconference victory.

Softball

Lake Forest 7, Red Lion 5: Winning pitcher Kerrigan Simpson smacked a pair of homeruns and drove in four runs as the Spartans (5-0) remained unbeaten.

Mya Maddox added two hits and a pair of RBI for Lake Forest, which led 6-1 after five innings.

Polytech 9, Milford 5: The Panthers scored the last five runs of the game to rally from a one-run deficit.

Winning pitcher Taylor Pechin struck out 12 while Jessica Kwasnieski (2-for-4, 3 RBI), Amanda Waishes (2-for-4, 1 RBI), Morgan Dodge (2 RBI) and Whitney DeMora (3 runs) led Polytech offensively.

Milford’s Megan Fry was 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs scored and a pair of RBI.

Dover 16, Seaford 1: Winning pitcher Katie Dunlap threw a one-hitter and added three hits at the plate for the Senators.

Kaila Quick had four of Dover’s 18 hits with Kristen Spencer adding three. Anye Carter hit a three-run homer.

Elizabeth Cataldi hit a solo homerun for the Blue Jays’ lone hit.

Caesar Rodney 9, Woodbridge 1: The Riders picked up a Henlopen Conference win on Friday.

Sussex Tech 12, Indian River 1: The Ravens took control of the conference game with seven runs in the first.

Jaykayla Sample hit a three-run homerun in the fourth, Shannon Lord added two RBI and winning pitcher Taylor Wroten improved to 3-0.

Abigail O’Shields drove in Madison McGee for the Indians’ lone run.

Girls’ soccer

Sussex Tech 2, St. Georges 0: Sheyla Artiga scored in the first half and Nicolette Phillips added a goal in the second to lead the Ravens.

Kiara Whealton made five saves for Sussex Tech, which finished with advantages of 11-6 in shots and 3-1 in corner kicks.

St. Thomas More 1, McKean 1: The Highlanders tallied a second-half goal to tie the Ravens.

College baseball

UD sweeps Hofstra: Delaware broke a tie with a three-run sixth inning to earn the 8-4 win in the opener and then banged out 20 hits on the way to a 13-3 victory in the nightcap to sweep Hofstra.

The Hens (20-11, 3-5 CAA), who reached the 20-win mark for the 44th straight season since 1973, have now won three in a row and four of their last five. They won their first league series in three tries this spring.

In the opener, Delaware shortstop Jeremy Ake broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run single in the sixth. UD starter Ron Marinaccio (6-1) allowed three runs in 5.1 innings.

The Hens got another solid pitching effort in the second game as freshman Kyle Hinton (2-0) made his first career start and earned the win by allowing just three hits and two runs in five innings.

College lacrosse

WOMEN, Elon 5, Delaware 4, OT: Elon held Delaware without a goal for more than 38 minutes Friday evening as the Phoenix handed the Hens their fourth straight one-goal loss.

Delaware led by a score of 4-0 with just over five minutes remaining in the first half before giving up five straight Elon goals, including the game-winner from Shelby Scanlin with 2:30 remaining in overtime.
