Smyrna High sank nine three-pointers as it rolled to a 66-31 victory over Caesar Rodney in Henlopen North boys’ basketball on Thursday night.

The Eagles (3-0 North, 4-0 overall) outscored the Riders in every quarter, including 22-6 in a decisive third period.

Caleb Matthews (20 points) and Dymer’e Richardson (12) hit three three-pointers apiece with Anthony Watson adding 10 points for Smyrna.

Davione Robinson netted 14 points to pace the Riders.

Lake Forest 43, Milford 38: Cameron Lewis scored 12 points and Isaiah Morris had 10 as the Spartans notched the Henlopen South win.

With the contest tied after both teams scored just two points each in the third quarter, Lake Forest out-scored the Buccaneers, 12-7, in the fourth period.

The Spartans’ six three-pointers came from four different players with Morris sinking three.

Brion Murray tallied a game-high 16 points for Milford, which got six three-pointers from five different players.

Polytech 67, Sussex Central 63: The Panthers outscored the Golden Knights, 33-23, in the fourth quarter to pull out the Henlopen North victory.

The win was the third in a row for Polytech (2-2 North, 3-2 overall).

Girls’ basketball

Caesar Rodney 63, Smyrna 29: The Riders outscored the Eagles by a combined 44-10 in the second and third quarters to take control of a four-point game.

Brionna Brooks netted a game-high 18 points with Alissa Haith adding 16 for CR in the Henlopen North contest.

Melena Credle scored a team-high 14 points with three three-pointers to lead Smyrna.

Sussex Central 55, Polytech 33: The Golden Knights built a 48-17 lead after three quarters before regis-tering the Henlopen North victory.

Raeonna Stratton had 17 points and Ambria Stratton scored 16 as Central improved to 5-0.

Tamia Mathias tallied 14 points for the Panthers.

Delmarva Christian 44, Sts Peter & Paul 39: The Royals outscored St. Peters, 17-8, in the fourth quarter to rally for the victory.

Camryn Breasure had a game-high 13 points for Delmarva Christian.

College soccer

Hens’ Delgado invited to combine: Following a stellar career at the University of Delaware, forward Guillermo Delgado was recently invited to participate in the MLS Player Combine.

The event will be held on Jan. 8-12 in Los Angeles.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity to make it to the next level,” said Delaware’s only male four-time All-American. “This is an event for the best of the best collegiate players. I am excited for the competition and to be able to show everyone what I am capable of doing.”

Delgado is one of 53 NCAA Division I college players selected for the combine. All invitees will be eligible for selection in the SuperDraft, which will take place on Jan. 13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

“The MLS Combine is the place that every collegiate player wants to be at next month,” said Delaware coach Ian Hennessy. “When you consider the caliber of the players and institutions represented, it is terrif-ic to see the University of Delaware flag planted in the midst.

“While we’ve had many MLS scouts at our games over the past years due to the program’s recent suc-cess, this event will have every MLS head coach and GM in the country to see these players first hand. It will be the best opportunity for Guillermo to impress everyone at once and we are all excited for him.”

Delgado, the 2016 CAA Player of the Year, earned NSCAA All-America recognition for the fourth consecu-tive year, landing a spot on the third team. He earned his fourth consecutive selection to the All-CAA first team and fourth straight spot on the NSCAA All-Midwest Region first team after posting 12 goals, eight assists and 32 points to lead the Blue Hens to the CAA Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Delgado joins Evans Frimpong (’12) as the lone Blue Hens to be invited to the MLS Combine. Frimpong was drafted ninth overall in the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft by the Chicago Fire. He most recently was a member of the Oklahoma City Energy and Puerto Rico FC.
