Dover High built an 18-point lead after three quarters before holding on for a 46-43 victory over Wilmington Friends in girls’ basketball on Saturday.

The win was the third in a row and sixth in the last seven games for the Senators (7-5).

Dover sank eight three-pointers in the nonconference contest, getting three from Tajanae Henry-Coney, who netted a team-high 16 points. Ja’Nyra Hicks, who hit two threes, added 10 points.

The Quakers outscored the Senators, 22-7, in the fourth quarter before falling short.

Boys’ basketball

St. Georges 67, Sussex Tech 54: The Hawks outscored the Ravens by 13 points in the second half to break away from a 30-30 halftime tie.

Jaquan Burton had 13 points with Ricky Kane scoring 12 for Sussex Tech.

College basketball

MEN, Mary Washington 77, Wesley 51: The Eagles tallied 18 straight points to build a 32-8 lead late in the first half before posting the Capital Athletic conference win.

Mary Washington is 4-4 CAC, 8-7 overall while the Wolverines lost thier second in a row to fall to 4-4, 6-9.

Wesley scored 13 straight to end the first half, narrowing the Eagles’ lead to 32-21 at the break. But, in the second half, the Eagles pushed the lead back up to 23, at 52-29, in the first eight minutes.

The Eagles’ largest lead of the game came at the 6:48 mark when Lutkenhaus hit a layup to go up 71-40. Wesley shot 29.0 percent from the field (20-of-69), making 3-of-12 three-pointers and 8-of-15 free throws.

J.W. Lawson netted 18 points for Wesley with Paul Clemmons adding 12 points and 12 rebounds.

WOMEN, Mary Washington 72, Wesley 61: Senior center Brianne Comden scored a career-high 31 points as the 12th ranked Eagles pulled away to the CAC win.

Mary Washington is 8-0 in conference, 15-0 overall. The Wolverines are 2-6, 6-9.

Wesley, which sank 8-of-16 three-pointers, hung with the Eagles for much of the contest, trailing only 32-28 at halftime. The Wolverines later used an 8-2 run to grab a 43-42 advantage late in the third quarter.

The first five minutes of the fourth quarter saw six lead changes and four ties. Wesley trailed only 61-60 before the Eagles used an 11-1 spree to put the contest out of reach.

Monshea Newsome-Murray (15 points), Brionna Johnson (13) and Alexus Stroud (13) all finished in double figures for the Wolverines.
