Caesar Rodney High registered five pins in picking up a 59-9 victory over A.I. duPont in a nonconference wrestling match on Saturday afternoon.

The Riders also lost to host Caravel, 50-26, in the tri-meet. For CR (6-2), the matches were its third and fourth in the past four days.

Against the Tigers, Chase Mounts (138 pounds) had a 28-second fall, Mike Clavier (195) added a pin in 33 seconds and Jacob Somerville (285) won by fall in 52 seconds. Cody Stevenson (132) and Mikel Abullah (160) also had pins.

In the loss to Caravel, Mounts added a 51-second pin while Clavier also won by fall again. Thomas Gallucci (152) and Andrew Sudler (170) also had pins for CR.

Cape Henlopen 63, Indian River 12: The Vikings collected five pins in posting the nonconference victory.

Julian Medina (285) posted a 43-second fall for Cape’s quickest pin of the match. Justin Wright (132), Jose Ascencio (145), Christopher Handlin (170) and William Ott (195) also won by pin.

Jared Arlett (120) had a pin for the Indians.

Boys’ basketball

Wilmington Christian 68, Delmarva Christian 57: Micah Magee netted 22 points for the Royals in their loss on Saturday.

Aaron Mollock and Joshua Vonhof added 12 points apiece for Delmarva Christian.

College basketball

MEN, Mary Washington 75, Wesley 57: The Wolverines (4-7 CAC, 6-12 overall) saw their three-game winning streak end with the Capital Athletic Conference loss.

Wesley’s Evan Anderson scored 27 points to lead all scorers while J.W. Lawson finished with 13 points and Anthony Bowers notched 10. Lawson grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

The Eagles’ lead ballooned to as large as 26 points in trhe second half.

WOMEN, Delaware State 79, South Carolina State 61: The Hornets improved to 4-3 in the MEAC, 7-13 with the win on Saturday.

DSU not only avenged its 61-48 loss at Soouth Carolina State earlier this season, but the victory snapped a six-game slide against the Bulldogs.

Five Hornets scored in double figures, including forward Nikkei Blackburn, who came off the bench to register a double-double of 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

In the fourth quarter, the Hornets reeled off 14 unanswered points to lead by as many as 20.

Freshman NaJai Pollard scored six of her 14 points in the fourth quarter, as she finished the afternoon with six boards, two assists and a team-high four blocks. N’Kayah Kersey also poured in 14 points.

Delaware State registered back-to-back wins for the first time this season. The Hornets are now above .500 in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play since 2012-13.

Mary Washington 61, Wesley 52: The Wolverines (3-8, 4-14) dug themselves a huge hole in the first quarter of Saturday’s Capital Athletic Conference contest loss.

Tiyanna Gibbs led the Wolverines with 14 points, while Alexus Stroud chipped in with 12 off the bench. Brionna Johnson grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.

The Eagles outscored the Wolverines, 26-4, in the first quarter and led 41-15 at halftime.
