The Caesar Rodney High girls’ basketball team stretched its winning streak to six games with a 46-28 victory over Cape Henlopen High in a Henlopen Conference Northern Division contest on Friday night.
Destiny Johnson paced the Riders (11-3) with 11 points. Brionna Brooks also finished in double figures for CR with 10 points.
Dover 50, Polytech 33: Brionna Hill’s 18 points helped the Senators earn a Henlopen North victory.
Ja’ Quela Dyer chipped in 10 points as Dover moved to 7-5 overall.
Smyrna 62, Newark 23: Melena Credle netted 26 points in the nonconference victory for the Eagles while Jayla Smith added 16.
Woodbridge 49, Milford 36: The Blue Raiders earned the Henlopen South win behind Altia Anderson’s game-high 24 points.
Sussex Central 51, Sussex Tech 39: Tatyana Jenkins led the Goiden Knights to a Henlopen North victory with 25 points while Emily Truitt netted 12 points.
Indian River 27, Delmar 22: The Indians outscored Delmar 12-2 in the fourth quarter to capture a comeback win.
Kealey Allison was Indian River’s leading scorer with eight points.
Delmarva Christian 48, Salisbury School, Md. 27: Kirah Harmon led the Royals with 14 points for a win over an out of state opponent.
Boys’ basketball
Cape Henlopen 48, Caesar Rodney 44: Ian Robertson scored 17 points, Randy Rickards added 11 and the Vikings rallied from a halftime deficit to earn the Henlopen North victory.
Jaquan Hooks led the Riders with 12 points.
Milford 46, Woodbridge 41: The Buccaneers defeated their Henlopen South rivals thanks to Henry Nesmith and Brion Murray who scored 16 and 12 points respectively.
Lake Forest 68, Seaford 51: Dominique Griffith netted 22 points and Cameron Lewis followed with 18 to help the Spartans record a Henlopen South win.
Wrestling
Sussex Central 31, Polytech 28: Brandon Bautista and Lucas Hudson earned pins as the Golden Knights edged Polytech to remain unbeaten in the Henlopen North.
Polytech was led by pins from Austin Price, Spenser Hahn and Noah Deneumoustier. Sussex Central won seven of the final nine matches, including Victor Cruz’s decision at heavyweight in the final bout of the night.
Women’s basketball
James Madison 75. Delaware 55: James Madison claimed the top spot in the Colonial Athletic Association with a win over Delaware. In their sixth straight win, the Dukes improved to 13-5 (6-1 CAA) while Delaware fell to 10-9 (5-3 CAA).
JMU opened the game on a 13-0 run before Delaware hit a free throw to open their scoring. The Dukes held the Blue Hens scoreless from the field until the 5:39 mark in the first quarter.
Sade Chatman was Delaware’s leading scorer with 15 points. The Blue Hens shot 18-of-51 from the floor (35.3 percent).
